Vagamon Pine Forest
Name says it all – a forest of pine trees!!! It is around 200 acres of land with dense rows of pine trees. Even at noon, when the sun is very strong, the heat of sun does not penetrate and keeps the land very cool. It is worth taking some time to relax in the middle of pine trees enjoying the cool weather.
Vagamon Suicide Point
Vagamon Suicide Point is a spectacular nature view point with a deep-seated valley below. You get cherishing views of mountains and valley and can enjoy fresh air and light breeze. You will also be able to enjoy misty mornings and evenings during cold days especially in December, January, June, July months. This is a good trekking destination too.
Vagamon Falls
Vagamon is home to many water falls. Palozhukum para (milk flowing rock) is one of the most famous water falls in this region. As the name says, the water looks like flowing milk with its white color. You will also find numerous water falls, small and big, especially if you are visiting Vagamon in Monsoon season (June, July). There are beautiful small water falls on the way to Vagamon from any direction (via Erattupetta or Kanjar or Kuttikkanam - the three routes to Vagamon).
Vagamon Kurisumala
Kurisumala, meaning the 'Mountain of Cross’ is a Christian pilgrimage. The hike starts at kallillakavala (Kurisumala base), where you will find the statue of "Jesus in Tabore" . While hiking, you will pass 14 stations of "The way of the cross" to reach a small church built on rock at the peak of the hill. A welcoming light breeze is always awaiting you which will take away all your tiredness. You can see Kurisumala ashram and its surrounding farm from the top of Kurisumala.
Tangal Para
Tangal Para is a Muslim pilgrimage center. This is believed to be the resting place of Husrath Sheikh Fariduddin Baba, a Sufi saint, who is believed to have reached Kerala from Afghanistan about 800 years ago.
Murugan Mala
Mugugan Mala or Hill is a Hindu pilgrim site. A rock cut Temple of Lord Murugan is situated on top of Murugan Mala. With these chain of three hills - Murugal Mala, Thangal Para and Kurisumala, Vagamon marks religious harmony and attracts lots of tourists and pilgrim alike
Karikad View Point
Karigad view point is on the way from Kottayam/Pala to Vagamon road. This is a must stop to enjoy the scenic beauty and appreciate the uphill drive you are having. From this point you can see the meandering road to Vagamon which is cut in solid rock with sky high mountains on one side and breath taking deep valley on the other side. Far away mountains dipped in mist, deep seated valley below, wild flowers, musical sound of water falls etc will get you completely refreshed.
Parunthumpara
Parunthumpara or 'Eagle Rock’ is situated near Peermede in Idukki district, is a place famed for its pristine natural beauty. A trekker's delight offering a bird's eye view of an endless stretch of green forests and the landscape, Parunthumpara is a favourite of off-beat travellers.The sky is clear, the visitors can also get a view of the Sabarimala forests from here. This place is 36 kilometers away from Vagamon.
Pattumala matha church
Pattumala matha church is 33 kilometers away from Vagamon, located in Peermade,Idukki Pattumala means silky mountain because it is surrounded by big and small hills with evergreen tea gardens with spiritual atmosphere, the cool climate, the panoramic view of nature, quietness of the surrounding and uncontaminated air help you to have a soul stirring spiritual experience.
