The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) is a research and development laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. It is India's first and largest aerospace research laboratory, and is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka.NAL was established in 1959 with the primary objective of developing civilian aircraft in India. Over the years, NAL has diversified its research and development activities to include a wide range of aerospace technologies.NAL has played a significant role in the development of India's aerospace industry. It has designed and developed several aircraft, including the Saras PT1 trainer aircraft, the Hansa-3 light sports aircraft, and the NAL NM54 light utility helicopter. NAL has also developed a number of aerospace technologies that are being used by Indian aerospace companies, such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
