Kumbh Mela
Kumbh Mela is the largest gathering of Hindu pilgrims in India, celebrated every 12 years at four places Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik where there is the confluence of three rivers. During this big fair the Pilgrims gather on the bank of the Sacred Ganges river for a holy bath. The major attraction of the mela is the procession of the Naga Sadhu's and the procession of Akharas marching.
Sonepur Mela
Sonepur Mela is also known as Harihar Chhetra Mela, and it is the only kind in the world. The Mela is held on the full moon day in Bihar, at the confluence of the river Ganga and Gandak. Major attraction of this mela is Haathi Bazar, where the elephants are lined up for sale. Apart from this all breeds of buffaloes, donkeys, ponies and birds are also available for sale. Sonepur Mela is the largest animal in India.
Pushkar Fair
Pushkar is one of the largest camel fairest in the world which attracts lot's of tourist mainly from Israel. Which held between October and November in the old city of Rajasthan, Pushkar, near the banks of Pushkar Lakes. The competitions such as the matka phod and longest mustache and the Hot air balloon are the few very special experience to enjoy.
Hemis Gompa Fair
Hemis Gompa Fair is the most auspicious occasion for the Buddhist community in India, which is held between the month of January and February at the world's famous Hemis Gompa located in Ladahk. Hemis Gompa is surrounded by the mountain rocks and concealed inside the Hemis National Park.
Kolayat Fair
Kolayat fair held between the month of September and October were the thousands of devotees take a sacred dip and put several lit oil lamps on Kolayat Lake. Kolayatfair is also known as Kapil Muni Fair and it is also the largest cattle fair held in Bikaner District of Rajasthan.
Chandrabhaga Mela
Chandrabhaga Mela a grand mela held at Khandagiri near Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa. Chndrabhaga Mela is also known as Magha Saptam Mela, the fair is held during the full moon every year on Febraury. During the fair thousands of pilgrims gather to bathe in the holy Chandrabhaga River.
Gangasagar pilgrimage and fair is the second largest congregation of mankind after the holy Kumbh Mela. The big religious fair is held annually where the holy river Ganga meets the Bay of Bengal in West Bengal. During the time of fairs festivals thousands of people come to holy bath.
Ambubasi Fair
The Ambubasi fairs is one of the largest festivals celebrated across India. The three-day traditional fair is organized every year during monsoon in the kamakhya temple in Guwahati, Assam.
