Out of the Six Padai Veedu of Lord Murugan, Thiruchendur alone is settled within the shore and therefore the rest ar all settled in hills. wherever the pinnacle (Commander-in-chief) goes for battle and stays together with his army is termed "Padai Veedu". Hence, Thiruchendur is that the solely place wherever Lord Murugan together with his army stayed, once he visited destroy Demon Soorapadman.
